Canva
This blog entry is about a tool of my own interest called Canva. I first started using Canva last year to create a poster for one of my classes, and recently I have been exploring more of the functions that I can use it for.
What is Canva?
Canva is a graphic design tool that can be used to create anything you can think of. Some of the designs that I have created include, a timeline, a mind map, a rules poster, comics, and venn diagrams. There are several more creative ways you can use it. Canva provides you with several different templates so that you create whatever you want. For example, if you wanted to create a brochure, all you would have to do is type in brochure, and several different designs would be available for you to choose from. Just within the few designs and templates I have explored I can see how versatile this tool can be. It is also very easy to use. All you have to do is sign up for an account, and then you will have access to all of the free designs. Or if you are willing to spend $12.99 a month you can have access to all of their designs and templates.
I definitely plan on using Canva in my classroom. I will use it myself as a teacher to create posters for my classroom, or to create examples of projects that I would like my students to do. I also believe I will create news letters for my students to take home to their parents. I will also encourage my students to use it for when they are creating a project. This tool will allow my students to be as creative as they wish to be. It will give them more freedom and options when creating their projects.
How it relates to TLC and SAMR/PICRAT
I believe that Canva relates to the communication aspect of the TLC framework. Creating news letters will allow me to communicate with my students parents. I also believe Canva allows students to be creative in ways that they can't do when art supplies. This is the reason why I think it relates to the creative, and substitution aspect of SAMR/PICRAT.

Hey Camryn! I have also used Canva before in high school and this tool was great for us to be able to create prom tickets! It was super fun and like you said, there are several options, designs, and templates.
