Quizlet
This blog entry is about a tool in Dr. Wang's PowerPoint about previous T3PP results. Specifically Quizlet in the software list from secondary teachers. Quizlet is a tool that I have used all throughout high school and college to study.
What is Quizlet?
Quizlet is a free online learning tool that gives anyone access to thousands of different study sets.
I would say quizlet is very easy to use. You can look any subject and so many different quizlets will pop up with all different questions to study. Creating you own quizlet is just as easy. All you have to do is tap on create a set and you put in the information that you want to study.
It is also versatile. You can use it in so many ways as a student and a teacher. As a student I used it for studying, whether I was making my own study set, or I would look up a study and use another person's. As a teacher I could make study guides for my students to practice on at home. I would provide questions that might be on a test or quiz and give my students the opportunity to use this as a study tool. There are also so many ways it allows you to study. You could use flashcards, or play games to study, or there will be a question and you have to type in the answer.
How it relates to the TLC Framework
Quizlet really relates to the TLC Framework especially in the learning aspect. It connects to the cognitive learning theory, because this technology helps students retain new information, and cement the new information in their brain.
I am not sure how often I will use Quizlet in my future classroom, because I think it is more of a tool for my student's to use to learn and study. I will encourage them to use it for when they need to study vocabulary, or math functions and equations.

I think this is a great tool for students to use for studying as well! You as the teacher could create a Quizlet and have the students us the one you created for studying. I agree with you that it relates to the cognitive learning theory.
ReplyDeleteI really appreciate how much information you give in your blog and think that you cover everything so perfectly and convincingly. Your explanation of all of its uses are so great and I never even thought of how I could use it as a teacher and create sets for my students to study, and I just thought that was such a good idea!
